Try A Copita
Sure, you can sip mezcal from any type of glass, but we suggest a traditional copita, a small clay bowl with a wide mouth. As most mezcals are bottled at a high alcohol percentage, using a shallow copita allows the alcohol vapours to dissipate, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the complex aromas of the spirit.
SIP DON'T SHOOT
Whichever drinkware you are using, sip slowly. Mezcal is not meant to be consumed as a shot. Rarely is the first sip the same as the last sip. You miss out on that when you shoot it.
Skip The Ice
There’s no room for ice in a copita so take that as a cue to enjoy your mezcal neat. It’s very rare you’ll see people drinking mezcal on the rocks as chilling it will mask its more subtle notes.
Make It Long
Mezcal has become a popular ingredient in craft cocktails - think Oaxacan old-fashioneds or mezcal margaritas. Simple mixers such as tonic or grapefruit soda also work just as well
